Black Magic: The Science Behind the Magic

Hubbard-Hall’s Black Magic is a high-performance alkaline nitrate black oxidizing solution, with a boiling point of 285°F and a salt concentration of approximately 6 lbs. per gallon. It creates a durable black iron oxide coating that enhances appearance, corrosion resistance, and lubricity. Key components include sodium hydroxide, sodium nitrate, sodium nitrite, and rectifiers, which work together to produce a uniform finish and handle contaminants.
