Room Temperature Blackening

Hubbard-Hall's series of room temperature Black Magic™ products use a reactive chemistry to form an appealing black finish on steel, aluminum and zinc alloys. These essentially dimensionless coatings create a very decorative, durable black finish that leave an absorbing oxide layer for oils and waxes that will provide for enhanced corrosion protection. The room temperature blackening process offer energy savings and convenience over hot black oxide while sacrificing some corrosion resistance and durability when compare to the finish formed by a hot black oxide process.

Metal Coloring: Room Temperature Blackening for Aluminum

Black Magic™ RT-A3 A liquid concentrate, which is diluted with water and used at room temperature as an immersion, blackening solution for aluminum surfaces.

Metal Coloring: Room Temperature Blackening for Steel (mild)

Black Magic™ RT-S20 A liquid concentrate, which is diluted with water and used at room temperature as an immersion, blackening solution for machined surfaces and tool steels. (Will not blacken stainless steel.)
Black Magic™ RT-S25 A liquid concentrate, which is diluted with water and used at room temperature as an immersion, blackening solution for mill surfaces on cold rolled steel. (Will not blacken stainless steel).
Black Magic™ RT-S26 A liquid concentrate, which is diluted with water and used at room temperature as an immersion, blackening solution for cast iron, malleable irons and forged steel. (Will not blacken stainless steel.)
Black Magic™ RT-S30 A liquid concentrate, which is diluted with water and used at room temperature as an immersion, blackening solution for steel. Black Magic™ RT-S30 is the product of choice when minimal rub off is of the utmost importance.

Black Magic™ RT-Z40 Black Magic™ RT-Z40 liquid concentrate is diluted with water and used at room temperature as an immersion blackening solution for plated zinc, die cast zinc and galvanized surfaces.
