Case History: Acid Brite 340

Problem to be solved:
Customer needed a liquid acid salt that would provide a safe, effective replacement for the powdered material and be easy to feed into production line.

Application:
An acidic cleaning process prior to electroplating; this liquid product is as effective as a dry an acid salt on both cast and extruded brass parts.

What is different today?
Customer has been able to eliminate the need for the powdered acid salt. They have been able to process both ferrous and non-ferrous metals and shorten the process thereby improving productivity.

Other comments:
As an additional benefit the account discovered that they gained more control of the process by switching to a liquid instead of the dry product. The liquid Acid Brite 340, allows more consistent additions to the bath. The Acid Brite can also be metered and monitored in the working solution to maintain optimal performance.

Case History: Metalguard® 919

Problem to be solved:
A company was looking for a corrosion inhibitor with a minimum of 200 hours protection per ASTM D 2247. This account also required ISO 9001 quality certification.

Application:
The company provides finishes on various base metals and needs to comply with stringent corrosion provisions for storage and shelf life. The Metalguard® 919 is applied after the parts have been processed and spun dry to remove excess moisture, at which point they are immersed at room temperature for 1 minute. A heated spin dry completes the process.

What is different today?
The company has seen demonstrable improvement in the lubricity and shelf life of fasteners. The uniform coating combined with a dry-to-touch finish have bolstered productivity and allowed for faster processing.

Customer has increased the volume of business by providing an improved finish and extended protection to their accounts.

Case History: Aquaease® S 188 NE

Problem to be solved:
Job shop needs a non-phosphate, non-etching and cost effective cleaner for aluminum.

Application:
Barrel and reel to reel plating operation that cleans, debars and passivates a variety of metals and needs a solution for aluminum parts.

What is different today?
Not only was the account was very satisfied with the cleaning properties, the parts were brighter than they had anticipated. This benefit has enabled the job shop to develop additional business as a result of the new process.

Other comments:
As an added benefit, the account was able to reduce the total processing cost because of cleaner's ability to hold more oil.

Case History: Bernite 35/AR

Problem to be solved:
Effectively remove the shellac coating and various tablet colorings from process equipment at the customer’s laboratory

Application:
Used at an ambient temperature, Bernite is used to clean food grade coatings from stainless/steel equipment and from floors and walls around the equipment

What is different today?
After a number of trials, the customer has access to more supply, lower pricing and better technical service with Bernite and Hubbard-Hall

Bernite is Faster: works faster and just as effective as competitive products

Case History: Stripol NI Ultra

Problem to be solved:
The customer needed an effective nickel stripper but lower in cost to operate than a homemade formation of Ethylenediamine and Meta Nitro Benzene Sulfonate.

Application:
Stripol NI Ultra was used for 30 minutes at 150 degrees Farenheit. The nickel was removed from nickel/chrome sockets and chrome plate was removed in 25% hydrochloric acid.

What is different today?
This non-hazardous formula resulted in a reduced volume of spent nickel solution to be hauled away and reduced the equipment maintenance costs. Hubbard-Hall helped customer reduce chemical stripping and disposal costs significantly in the first year with Stripol NI Ultra.

Case History: Emerald HD

Problem to be solved:
The customer wanted a safer product for the machine shop employees to use, but the product needed to remove tough oil from the shop floor.

Application:
Used at ambient temperature in a 30 gallon floor scrubber, Emerald HD proved effective at a ratio of 5 to 1 on floors coated with oil from the stamping machines.

What is different today?
There is no longer a need for caustic-based floor cleaners. Emerald HD was an immediate success – proving just as effective on the oil and greatly improving employee safety.

Other comments:
Emerald HD is safer: no Sodium Hydroxide that can irritate to workers’ skin, eyes and throats.
Emerald HD is better: contains no chelators, which can cause issues with waste treatment.
Emerald HD is as fast as the caustic containing cleaner and for all these benefits, worth the premium.

Case History: Aquastrip ACB

Problem to be solved:
Customer needed a product to quickly strip paint and e’coat from aluminum and steel parts in the same bath, but typically steel parts rust before they can be inhibited.

Application:
Immersion tanks were lined with stainless filtration, and parts generally stripped within one hour.

What is different today?
Customer has increased efficiency with Aquastrip by treating steel and aluminum together, as long as the steel goes through an immersion rinse and inhibit prior to spraying off the residual coating.

Other comments:
Aquastrip is better: works well on all substrates
Aquastrip is faster: Initial testing stripped the CARC between 20 to 120 minutes. A similar product used for the same purpose took over 24 hours.
